Our team provides pathways for prospective Indigenous students to study in all UNSW faculties and programs. We also have a dedicated team who work to enhance the student experience for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, across student success, tutoring, workshops and events. Nura Gili's academic team manage all Indigenous Studies undergraduate and postgraduate courses and programs and the Higher Degree Research (HDR) strategy. The students will be doing the following on the day: Arrive and meet ambassadors @ UNSW Anzac Pde entrance (opposite L3 light rail stop) UNSW Presentation Campus tour Nura Gili 'Make A Space' Session Lunch (food vendors nearby can work out location on the day). Ambassadors will stay to answer any questions. Students will meet Ms Vickers and Haley Trist at St Marys Station at 8am on the shops side of the station, opposite the shops. Students are to organise their own transport too and from the station. If students miss the arrival time to St Marys Station, we will not wait for them due to time constraints for the event. If students are returning late on the day, students or staff will contact carers and inform of new return time. On the day, students must wear full school uniform, bring their opal card, bring food and drink on the day, money as we may have time to visit some food outlets on campus and wear comfortable footwear to be prepared to walk in all weather conditions. Students will be supervised by Mr Lane and supported by Haley Trist. This is a FREE event for students to participate in. Student Legal Education Group (SLEG), is a not-for-profit organisation that operates in conjunction with the Faculty of Law & Justice at UNSW. Since its inception 50 years ago, the Faculty has steadfastly promoted social justice and community education about legal issues. SLEG continues that work by recognising the importance of legal education for disadvantaged and regional communities. SLEG provides an invaluable opportunity for students and community groups to gain a foundational understanding of legal issues and information in a practical context. As volunteers and students of UNSW Law & Justice, SLEG has been instilled with an appreciation and passion for justice and advocacy throughout their education. SLEG has a commitment to engage, educate and empower individuals, with goals to improve access to justice and provide accurate, universal legal knowledge to young people and the community. Presentations are delivered by a group of trained, UNSW Law students (usually 3-4 presenters) as well as a qualified Solicitor from Youth Law Australia, and typically run for 1-2 hours at your school. The workshop will be on the topic: Criminal Law and Police Powers
