Wellbeing

Colyton High School recognise that parents/caregivers have the prime responsibility for the general wellbeing of their children. Parent and caregivers expect that their children will learn in a positive, caring, and safe environment.

Colyton High School has established a student wellbeing structure which is designed to provide support and guidance for all students. The Head Teacher Wellbeing is Mrs J Gorman.

If you are having problems with any subject, speak to your teacher about it as soon as possible. If you require further assistance, then go to your Year Adviser.

Parents who would like information about their son/daughter progress or conduct, are welcome to contact the school to make an appointment to see a Deputy Principal or a Year Adviser. Please do not wait until a Parent/teacher night or until the problem has caused undue stress or worry.

Counsellors Ms Galvin & Ms Melish

Counsellors are available to students and parents for consultation on issues related to school and home.  Parents may request appointments at the administration office and the Counsellor will contact them as soon as practicable to arrange a suitable 

Head Teacher Wellbeing Mrs J Gorman

The HT Wellbeing is responsible for the Wellbeing Team which consists of Year Advisers, Supervisor of Girls & Boys and School Support Officer.

They are responsible for the implementation of welfare policies, organisation of programs aimed at the welfare of students.

Supervisor of Girls Miss I Rodriguez

The Supervisor of Girls is primarily concerned with all matters relating to health, guidance, appearance and welfare of girls.  Parents may make appointments for interviews.

Each year group is assigned a 2 Year Advisers who provide specialist support.  In addition, the School Counsellors, provide counselling for students in all years.

Communication between the school and parent/caregivers is essential.  Any enquiries regarding student wellbeing should, in the first instance, be directed to the Student Adviser through the Administration Office.

Mrs M Beattie

Mrs Beattie's role is to strengthen students’ emotional wellbeing. She works closely with the School Counselling Service and Wellbeing Team. Mrs Beatttie is involved with whole-school wellbeing initiatives like individual and group programs and Breakfast club. She also works collaboratively with outside services in order to support students and their families.

Students looking for support or a chat with Mrs M Beattie will need talk to a Teacher or Deputy who can arrange a meeting.

Aboriginal Community Lianson Officer 

Mrs H Trist

Mrs H Trist offers the following  support to our Aborginal students at Colyton High School:

  • School activities, including excursions.
  • Discuss educational progress of your children.
  • Identify and develop resources to support the learning outcomes of students.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans for Aboriginal students.
  • Support Aboriginal culture awareness for all students with particular reference for Aboriginal students.
  • Help maintain effective relationships between  students, parents, the community and school staff.

Pacific Islander Community Liaison Officer (PICLO)

Mr A Tevita offers the following  support to our Pacific Islander students at Colyton High School:

  • School activities, including excursions.
  • Discuss educational progress of your children.
  • Identify and develop resources to support the learning outcomes of students.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans for Pacific Islander students.
  • Support Pacific Islander  culture awareness for all students with particular reference for Pacific Islander students.
  • Help maintain effective relationships between  students, parents, the community and school staff.
