Selected Year 10-12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island students have the opportunity to visit Macquarie University on the 2nd May 2024 and visit the Walanga Muru. Walanga Muru is the centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students utilise to connect, communicate and be supported by other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and mentors. On the day students will get to do the following:
Students will meet Mr Lane and Haley Trist at St Marys Station at 8am on the shops side of the station, opposite the shops. Students will catch the train at 8:12am to Chatswood, change trains to the Metro and catch it to Macquarie University. We will arrive at Macquarie University at 10am. Students will participate in the events listed above. Students and staff will be catching the Metro train back at 1:15pm and will return back at St Marys Station at 3:05pm. Students will be dismissed from St Marys Station when we return. Students are to organise their own transport too and from the station. If students miss the arrival time to St Marys Station, we will not wait for them due to time constraints for the event. If students are returning late on the day, students or staff will contact carers and inform of new return time.
On the day, students must wear full school uniform, bring their opal card, bring food and drink on the day, money as we may have time to visit some food outlets on campus and wear comfortable footwear to be prepared to walk in all weather conditions. Students will be supervised by Mr Lane and supported by Haley Trist. This is a FREE event for students to participate in.
Consent forms need to be returned by 1st May 2024 to Mr Lane or online via Compass.
Students must bring their own Opal card for transport.
