Kimberwalli - Cultural Immersion Excursion

The Kimberwalli Cultural Immersion Excursion supports all Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander students to learn about, engage in and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories. These experiences support schools to deliver an inclusive curriculum that reflects the diversity of Aboriginal histories and cultures. 

The Excursion will run on Friday 2 August 2024 from 9.30am to 2.30pm ay Kimberwalli. There is no costs to this excursion and morning tea and lunch will be provided. Students must make their way to and from the excursion. 
 
Students will have the opportunity to represent their culture, Colyton High School and the youth in the local community at Kimberwali on Friday 2 August 2024. The Kimberwalli Cultural Immersion Excursion supports all Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander students to learn about, engage in and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories. These experiences support schools to deliver an inclusive curriculum that reflects the diversity of Aboriginal histories and cultures.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in: 
- Native foods and cooking
- Cultural artefacts and tools
-Corroboree dance
-Traditional arts
- Mens and womens business
- Aboriginal languages
- Cultural awareness
- Local cultures and histories
 
The Excursion will run on Friday 2 August 2024 from 9.30am to 2.30pm ay Kimberwalli. The excursion is only available for 15 students, so it is first notes in that will receive a spot. There is no costs to this excursion and morning tea and lunch will be provided. Students must make their way to and from the excursion. Students must wear full school uniform students are to make their own way to and from Kimberwalli on the day - 1 Mimika Avenue, Whalan NSW 2770Students should arrive by 9.00am. Students will be assisted by Haley Trist, Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer and supervised by Mrs Boland.
 
If students are interested in attending, please return their permission slip via Compass or to the HSIE staff room by Friday 5 July 2024.
