Colyton High School Enrichment Classes
Colyton High Schools caters for students with high potential academic capabilities with an enrichment class in each grade from Year 7 to Year 10.
Students in the enrichment class show above average academic results as well as a strong commitment to learning.
Learning in this class can be accelerated to meet the needs of individuals or groups of students and there is an increased opportunity for students to engage in special interest projects related to their studies.
Students in the enrichment class have access to external competitions and assessments such as:
- Australian Mathematics competition
- Australian History Competition
- Big Science Competition,
- Maths and Science Olympiads
- Creative writing competitions
- ICAS assessments/competitions throughout the year.
A student's place in the enrichment class is evaluated ongoingly across the year and a place in the class in Year 7 does not indicate a place in the class for the following years. Students who do not gain a place in the enrichment class will be considered to move into the class at the mid year reports or at the start of the following year based on their academic achievements and commitment to learning.
