TAFE STEM Taster Lessons

Selected Year 10 will be participating in the Taster Lessons at TAFE. The STEM taster is a special blend of training and hands-on activities delivered by TAFE expert teachers. They provide secondary students with an opportunity to gain industry experience and employability skills. TAFE NSW, CSIRO and schools are partnering to enable this learning experience. On completion, students will receive a TAFE Statement in STEM Taster Program.

This is a 5-week program:

Day 1

Kingswood Campus

Health Services

• Orientation to TAFE NSW – Nepean Kingswood
• Induction, Explore a Career in Nursing

Day 2

Kingswood Campus

Explore a Career in Sterlization /Dental Assisting Kingswood

Student will experience the use of technology robotics, and microbiology to be creative in designing new improved ways of combating infections and ensuring nil post-surgery complications due to cross contamination.

Day 3

Kingswood Campus

Explore a Career in Fitness /Allied Health

Day 4

Mount Druitt Campus

Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology

• Introduction to CAD drawing
  • The students will have an introduction to CAD drawing followed by fabricating a dustpan
  • Industry presentation

Day 5

Mount Druitt Campus

Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology

• Preparation work for practical activities.
